What is FCDA In Hyderabad?

The Future City Development Authority (FCDA) is a specialized planning body established by the Telangana government in March 2025 to develop a 765.28 sq km “Future City” area in Rangareddy district. FCDA will have in its area of control including 56 revenue villages from seven mandals like Amangal, Ibrahimpatnam, Kadthal, Kandukur, Maheshwaram, Manchal and Yacharam of Ranga Reddy district.

What is Future City

Future City Hyderabad, also called Bharat Future City, is a large city development project planned by the Telangana Government. Telangana Government is aiming to build a modern & smart city near Hyderabad with better infrastructure and facilities and wants the Future City to become a global hub for innovation and investments, supporting its long term development plan under the “Telangana Rising 2047” vision.

The city is expected to support IT, data centres, life sciences, electric vehicles, semiconductor industries and innovation. With good connectivity through the Outer Ring Road (ORR), Regional Ring Road(RRR) and the airport. It is planned as a major growth area for Hyderabad in South Hyderabad, near the Srisailam Highway and will be developed in an area spread about 30,000 acres.

What Does FCDA Do?

The FCDA acts as the main authority for planning and monitoring projects for the Future City area. It also focuses on infrastructure creation through construction of modern infrastructure, including IT Parks, research centres, residential zones etc. The authority plans for advanced transport networks, land use & zoning, sustainability & green energy and more. It aims to transform areas around the Regional Ring Road into a major economic and investment corridor.

Chief Minister - Chairman : Leads overall operations of FCDA & makes key policy & strategic decisions

Minister of Municipal Affairs - Vice Chairman : Supervises urban development & infrastructure works & assists Chairman in planning & execution

Chief Secretary - Ensures coordination between various government departments and provides administrative support 

Special Chief Secretary(Finance) -  Supervises allocation of funds and collects financial resources for Future City Projects

FCDA Commissioner(IAS Officer) - Manages day-to-day operations of the Authority and organizes committee meetings & implements decisions

HMDA Metropolitan Commissioner : Coordinates Future City Development with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region

Rangareddy District Collector : Supervises land acquisition & local administration and resolves field - level issues

TGIIC Vice Chairman & Managing Director : Provides infrastructure for industrial clusters like Pharma City and supports investment promotion & industrial growth

Director, DTCP : Monitors urban planning regulations & supervises building permissions & development control
